Great review on Podio and how a Product Design Firm replaced 3 products with Podio

This is a great review of Podio where a product design firm shares how they replaced 3 software products with Podio. They were using Asana, Highrise and Basecamp. I am all in favor of a single system. We teach people to have one system so they can trust it. By having multiple systems data is fractionated and attention is scattered. Have you ever thought, "Where is that data again?"? We prefer to be focused and clear.

I found it intersesting that Designers and Developers were more...

Podio Busts Workflow Roadblocks

0

Comments

I love being productive and I hate roadblocks in workflows. Maybe that’s why when I work with companies I strategically hunt down those roadblocks and blow them to smithereens.  I like to see all green lights on my roads.

Let me give you an example. This isn’t a company I have worked with but just a blog post I read this morning that made me want to blow stuff up.

This doctor was talking about how he attends a lot of meetings, takes notes and then makes action items. He was sharing with...

Sometimes there is pain in change and growth but you need to go through it to reach beyond where you are now. As most of you know we have been the world leading implementors of Daylite for the past 11 years. On Monday April 15th, we ended that partnership with Marketcircle by mutual agreement. It's been a hard decision to make after championing Daylite for so long.

Funny, it was actually a Tweet that AJ saw about a conversation on Postbox that instigated the whole thing. Funny how things...

Great Meetings in Podio!

I recently read an article on Waking Up The Workplace "6 Typical Problems with Meetings and What To Do About Them (Part 1) and (Part 2)".

Based on Part 1, I adjusted the app we use for meetings in Podio to have a preparation field and a desired outcome field.

I didn't have to do anything for part 2 because Podio fixes a lot of that.

How does Podio do that? Well it is shared with all of the attendees (both internal & external) so we can continue the discussion there, have the files...

The Evolution of Business Systems

I don't know if you have noticed it lately, but business is changing. The speed of innovation and change is so rapid at the moment that often our business systems are so antiquated that they can be our biggest bottleneck in getting things done.

The days where your clients were uninformed and apathetic are gone. People today are very proactive about their own education on any given topic and are demanding more and more collaboration. The companies that will win in this market are...

Fifth Week of Agents of Conscious Business

I really enjoyed our class today with Fred Kofman who wrote Conscious Business: How to build value through values.

He suggested that as agents of conscious business, we need to develop the skills in ourselves first. We need to practice in a safe space and then take it to the field.

So for instance, if you are a change agent in your organization, you want to be the change you seek first. In doing that you need to realize that you are part of the system that you need to...

Fourth Week of Agents of Conscious Business

Today we talked about conscious collaboration and inquiry with Bill Torbet. It's finally starting to come together in my head and I am seeing how this course directly relates to my work with implementing Daylite for companies.

First I need to understand the consciousness of the company I am working with. If you are the CEO of the company or the champion of the implementation of Daylite for your company, you need to look at the consciousness of the staff you are working with also. In...

Third week of Agents of Conscious Business

In our third week of the Agents of Conscious business course that I am on I got to talk to a gentleman from Colombia in one of our breakout sessions. He works in the law enforcement industry in digital forensics.

It was interesting how he was talking about the very authoritarian and traditional world views in that industry. Yet, he’s noticed a sea of change in the last year of the consciousness of people in all realms, inside of his work and outside of his work.

He joked and...

Started my Agents of Conscious Business course today

I started on the Agents of Conscious business course today. So far it is fascinating. When your business is conscious of itself and it's impact on the world it can make better decisions that serve not just itself but everyone.

There is a growing desire in your customers' world. Most people are fundamentally good. And they want to do business with a company who is also.

I am taking this course so that I can learn how to help your company become more conscious. That means...

Consciousness in Business

I wrote this article for an issue of iBusiness, but I thought I would share it here and also ask for some interaction so we can get into a dialogue.

Business is changing because human nature is changing. We used to live in a world of strict hierarchy. Now we live in a much more democratic world. We have learned that what we do as a company affects the world around us. We are seeing the effects of living in a state of independence, for example as a company we can be successful, but is it...

Death of a great man

There have only been two men in my life that I would consider great men of business and those were my Grandfather, Earl  Wilder and Steve Jobs. I remember the first day I met Steve, it was in that dreaded scenario that everyone talks about, in the elevator at Apple headquarters in Cupertino. I was there for my Genius training in 2001.

Steve was know for his extreme focus that could at times come off as being harsh. But being a business owner myself, I know that focus. You are there in your...

An enlightening video from John Mackey

This is a great video of John Mackey of Whole Foods on what industries he sees as taking up conscious capitalism first. He mentions technology and also the services industry and here we are. MacAngel is placed squarely in front of this movement. I am passionate about teaching companies how to embrace conscious capitalism from the inside out.

"People think that we’re just being altruistic. No. If all you wanted to do was to make as much money as possible, as rapidly as possible, I would...

I've been attending the "Waking Up the Workplace" webinar series over the past few weeks. It has confirmed what I know to be true. If you allow a space for your staff to be fully who they are, they will be more dynamic, whole, and healthy. Oddly enough companies that allow their employees to be authentic dramatically outperform their competitors. *Source:  Firms of Endearment: The Pursuit of Purpose and Profit by Wolfe,  Sisodia & Sheth, 2007

Come back from the brink of technological exhaustion

Author, Tony Schwartz, who wrote, “The Way We Are Working Isn’t Working” said it best in a webinar I attended last week, “Technology is ahead of our ability to manage it.” Herbert Simon said  “a wealth of information creates a poverty of attention.” I could not agree with them more. There are so many things that fractionate our attention these days: instant messages, social media, SMS messages, and email. We are living in a world of urgency and it is stressing us out and overloading us....

Securing Valuable Business Email

This is a perfect example of why using Daylite is preferable to being fully in the cloud. Last week Engadget reported that over 500,000 Gmail users lost access to their inboxes. Some of the users said that they had lost years of messages as well as chat logs after they were finally able to log in.

As a business owner, that is terrifying for me. But I can imagine for my client's who are law offices that it would be even more of a train wreck if they had important documentation in there. So...
