Review of my new iPhone

Yes, I was one of the first 50 crazy ones in line at the Apple Store in UTC on Friday. There were reportedly 500,000 sold over the weekend

Nate, #35 in line, blogged pictures of those of us who were ditching our phones, for an iPhone. My Treo is the first picture

Apple was very good to us. We were pampered with umbrellas, sandwiches and water. You know I love Apple, and I didn't think I could love Apple anymore than I did. But when I actually got to using my iPhone, I got tears in my eyes, because my level of love for Apple went up a few more notches.

I've been playing with it all weekend, and in spite of 1 thing I can't stand, (No task/to do syncing YET), it is my most favorite gadget that I have ever owned. Yes, it even superseded my love of the Apple Newton. I want to make a T-shirt that says my Treo is listed on eBay on one side and Goodbye Verizon on the other! Not to say they were bad, they were the best for me at the time, but after just a sip of the sweet nectar of Apple and AT & T, I am hooked.

Do I wish EDGE was faster, yes, but I rarely need it since WIFI is so ubiquitous now. And the benefits far outweigh the faults.

For instance, last night I was having dinner with my ex-husband and his new girlfriend who is a singer. She asked me about KOVA, a musician friend of mine. She wanted to know the style of his music. Ta da, I whipped out my iPhone showed her a picture of him, played his music from my iTunes library all while showing her his website on Safari. After I was done with that, I took a more recent picture of my ex-husband to add to his contact in my iPhone. Never in a million years could I have achieved that on my Treo with such seamlessness.

Instead of isolating me, the iPhone was making me more social. I took pictures of all of my clients yesterday. Into my iPhone they went, then into AddressBook and they ended up in Daylite. (I am working on a beta version of the sync services for Daylite which so far works very well).

I had AllTime on my Treo and I was worried about that with the iPhone, how would I time my clients? Well, the iPhone didn't fail me. In the clock widget it has a stopwatch. Also with my treo I had to buy Agendus Pro so I could mapquest one contact to another. (Very important in my work.) With iPhones built in Maps widget, I can easily map to each client. Also on my Treo I had to have Directory Assist so I could find businesses. The mapping to those business never worked, but adding them to my address book did. With the iPhone not only can I map and add to my address book, I can also add to an existing contact. Sweet!

There are so many other little things I love, but those are the major ones that affect my world.

Oh, by the way, when I went to the Apple Store later in the evening on the 30th. Tony Hawk was buying his iPhone. Before I consciously knew who he was, I nodded and said, "Hey dude." He politely smiled and nodded back. It wasn't until a few steps later that I suddenly realized it was Tony Hawk. I had to laugh at myself.
